This collaborative project centres around the affordability of sustainable energy. Through extensive research we discovered several inconsistencies between sustainable policies and their accessibility to the public. We devised the ‘circle of contradiction’, as a timeline of environmental policies and agendas throughout Bord na Mona’s history. The outcome of the research showed that sustainable energy policies catered to those from a higher income bracket of society. We began tracking the history of Bord na Mona’s positive contributions to public housing, employment and community projects which veiled over the negative implications of their environmental policies. The posters we created speak to the hypocrisy and lack of accountability for corporate intervention on the environment. They are a comedic interpretation of the contradictions within environmental initiatives such as the drastic effects of wind energy on the boglands and the extortionate cost of solar panels installed in homes.
